Hello from Whitby!
I’m sitting here by the bench with Mum and Dad, looking out over the harbour - my favourite spot in the whole world. From here I can see everything: the boats drifting in and out, the people bustling below, the seagulls swooping and shouting, and Whitby Abbey standing tall like it’s keeping watch over us all.
Our family breaks here are the best. I feel at home the moment my paws hit the ground. The Yorkshire coast stretches out wide and wild, the air full of salt and fresh wind, the skies moody and dramatic - perfect walking weather if you ask me. Mum packs the most delicious picnics, and we make the most of every single day.
Dad loves that old Whitby Steam Bus, “Elizabeth.” He stands there for ages, watching the driver load the coal. He calls it “a thing of beauty.” And whenever the sky turns moody and the full moon is rising - even when we’re back home - Dad calls me to the window and says, “Come and have a look at the sky… it’s a Whitby moon tonight!” I always look. I always understand.
We wander the harbour together, listening to the seagulls, sniffing around the little shops, stopping for a cuppa and scones in Bothams (I always hope for crumbs), and climbing the 199 steps to the Abbey - our own special pilgrimage. The beaches are amazing - I've been chasing after my ball for hours! We belong here.
I wish I could show you the fresh air, the laughter, the sea spray, and how warm it feels to be together. There’s the biggest love between us.
This is my favourite spot - our bench.
See you soon,
Jack
