Dear Dame Doodah,
This is your Goose Captain reporting from the lead position. We’ve been flying in our neat V - as neat as us geese ever manage - and I must say, today’s formation was particularly aerodynamic. Excellent wing discipline from the team.
We took a sharp right over Pickering’s Pasture, cruising at a comfortable altitude with clear blue skies ahead. Below, I observed ground activity: people on the paths, dogs trotting, prams rolling - all enjoying favourable walking conditions.
As we followed the river, we encountered starlings already airborne, performing a high‑density murmuration over the Runcorn Bridge. Impressive manoeuvres - folding and unfolding like a living love heart above the Mersey. Even for seasoned geese, it’s quite a sight. We’ve been singing all day.
We headed into Liverpool airspace and have landed for a scheduled stop at Otterspool where we are enjoying rest, refreshments, and light honking.
Sending honks and cheers,
The Goose, Flight Captain
